Sheltered Housing
The Council has a number of sheltered
housing schemes which contain accommodation which is
self-contained homes. Primarily sheltered housing is set up to
cater for older people providing care and support to tenants who
find living alone difficult. However in recent years, younger
tenants fulfilling the entry requirements have been offered
sheltered housing.
Each sheltered housing scheme is
managed by a Scheme Managers. They provide essential support to
tenants by regularly contacting them and keeping in touch with
families and support services, they do not provide medical or
nursing assistance to tenants but can help with linking the
relevant support needed by elder residents.
Ascham Homes manages your tenancy on
behalf of your landlord, the London Borough
of Waltham Forest.
To provide a safe and comfortable environment we will:

- provide controlled door entry access to all
schemes
- provide a communal laundry room, lounge and
garden
- provide a guest room for visitors at a cost
of £6 per night
- provide car parking at some schemes
- clean communal areas such as the hallway,
kitchen, toilet, and lounge every day Monday to Friday
- clean the outside of windows every two
months
We will deliver accessible services:

- Scheme Managers availability from 9am to 5pm
Monday to Friday
- in the event of an out of hours
health-related emergency there is quick and easy access to the
Lifeline service by pull cord and switch
- in the event of any other out of hours
emergency, Lifeline will arrange for Newham Network to attend your
scheme
- an out of hours emergency disrepair service
is provided by Waltham Forest Direct on 020 8496

To support you scheme managers will:
-
- contact you every day or less frequently if
you wish
- develop a support plan with you within two
weeks of you moving in
- review the support plan every six months or
more frequently if required
- consult you about your satisfaction with
services
- will provide you with the information you
need should you wish to make a complaint to the Council
- promote active, independent living for older
people by providing appropriate on-site support where needed.
To help you to build a pleasant
community Ascham Homes will: -
- meet with residents as a group every six
months
- help you to put good neighbour agreements in
place
We Monitor Our Standards
by:-
- Regularly checking the quality of our
work
- Asking residents for their views of the
service
- Publish the results of our performance
monitoring
- Monitoring any complaints
