Right to Buy
If your tenancy began before 18 January 2005 and you want to
apply to buy your council home, you must have been a public-sector
tenant for at least two years to qualify. We may take account of
the time you spent as a tenant of another council or some housing
associations. If your tenancy started on or after 18 January 2005,
the qualifying period is five years.
Only registered tenants and family members living in the
property as their only or main home can be included in the Right to
Buy scheme. Your rent account should be fully up to date.
