Caretaking Services
Caretaker services are provided in a variety of
ways.
You may live in a block which receives a service from a mobile
caretaking team. This means a team of caretakers will visit your
block and carry out cleaning duties.
Some caretakers are based on an estate and provide caretaking
services to the estate; these caretakers may be resident on your
estate.
All caretakers are required to wear uniform at all times whilst
at work; this is so they can be identified quickly and easily as a
member of Ascham Homes staff.
For safety and security reasons please always ask to see proof
of identity before letting anyone into your home, all Ascham Homes
staff wear identity badges and will show you their badge to verify
who they are.
Caretakers carry out duties on your block or estate,
which include:
- Health and Safety checks.
- Cleaning refuse or bin chambers and attempting to clear blocked
chutes or arranging for a contractor to clear it.
- Replacing light bulbs and reporting lighting problems in
stairwells and communal areas.
- Mopping and sweeping lifts, lobbies, ground floor communal
areas and in some cases stairs up to the first floor.
- Cleaning grassed areas, shrubs, play areas and any other
external areas within the block or estate.
- Removing graffiti and arranging for bulk refuse clearance from
designated areas and dumped sites.
Caretakers also make safe and report communal repairs, report
vandalism and anti-social behaviour, improperly disposed rubbish,
abandoned, untaxed vehicles or those which are illegally
parked.
