Aids and Adaptations
If your home does not meet your needs because you have a
disability or illness, you can ask the Council to carry out
adaptations and improvements. Examples of aids and adaptations that
they can provide are handrails, ramps, stairlifts and special
toilets.
They will assess your needs and arrange for appropriate
adaptations to be fitted. They may also provide a social worker or
occupational therapist to advise you if necessary.
This service is provided by the London Borough of Waltham Forest
‘ACE Team’ (Access & Assessment, Care Coordination, Enablement
& Empowerment).

The Council is responsible for maintaining special toilets,
steplifts, stairlifts and through-floor lifts at all times and any
other equipment whilst it is still subject to its warranty period
(normally 6 months or a year).
Ascham Homes will maintain these adaptations once the
warranty period is over. Please make sure that Ascham Homes is
aware of the adaptations in your home so that we can arrange
for regular maintenance.
