Questions & Answers
Q. How are tenants and leaseholders involved in the
Tenants Council?
Tenants Council members are selected from Tenants and Resident
Associations. There are some members who have been on the Committee
for many years who are no longer members of Tenants and Residents
Association but are still included on the attendance list.
Q. How does the Tenants Council fit in with the
involvement of residents through the work of Ascham
Homes?
Tenants Council is the Council’s formal consultative committee
and is used for their consultation. In terms of Ascham Homes, we
report to Tenants Council on items requested by them or the
Council. We are also proactive and report on things that we think
would be of interest to them.
We use Tenants Council as one of our consultation mechanisms and
the Chair of Tenants Council has signed off the Tenant Compact and
other documents.
Q. Does the Tenants Council relate to the Contract
Panels that are operated by Ascham Homes?
We have developed a linkage between Tenants Council and our own
Contract Panels through the Resident Leadership and Coordination
meeting. Here the Chairs and Vice Chairs of Tenants Council and our
Contract Panels come together with some members of Tenants Council
to look at resident involvement issues. Reports going to Contract
Panels go through this group and feed into Performance and
Development Sub Committee.
