Major Repairs Allowance
What is Major Repairs Allowance (MRA)?
Each year the Government allocates Waltham
Forest Council approximately £1 million, which is transferred to
Ascham Homes to spend on major repairs or environmental
improvements. As part of our commitment to resident
involvement, we are inviting Waltham Forest Council tenants,
leaseholders and other stakeholders to submit proposals for any
improvement ideas they would like Ascham Homes to carry out from
the MRA budget.
Who can apply?
- Tenants and Residents Association
- Waltham Forest Council tenants
- Waltham Forest Council leaseholder
- Ward Councillor
- Tenants living in Sheltered Accommodation
- Ascham Homes Staff
- Stakeholders including: Local Police, School, Private owner of
a property
What can you apply for?
- Security improvement to Waltham Forest Council property
- Community safety
- Reducing vandalism or nuisance
- Improving energy efficiency
- Improving open spaces which are managed by Ascham Homes

Implication for
leaseholders
If an application for MRA funding is
successful and the improvements are carried out, leaseholders may
be recharged for the costs, in accordance to their lease.
The announcement of
decisions
|
The announcement of decisions on each of the
applications will be made at a special meeting
during September / October 2011. Applicants will be
informed of these meeting details by post or email, nearer to the
time.
Description of the proposed
scheme
Briefly outline the improvements you are
proposing, continuing on a separate sheet if necessary. If
possible, please attach a simple drawing, photograph or email the
photograph of the site to mra@aschamhomes.org.uk if this
will help explain your project. We will have a surveyor come
to visit the site where the proposed works are to be carried
out.
Closing date
The closing date for all application forms is
Monday, 1 August 2011.
Completed applications should be
