Community Facilitator

What is a Community Facilitator?

Community Facilitators are trained volunteer outreach workers, who will assist Ascham Homes.

They will act as a go-between to facilitate service improvement, bridge cultural gaps, facilitate communication and engage with residents from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Why?

Ascham Homes is committed to involve all sections of the community, including hard to hear.  We want to obtain their comments, opinions and improve and increase communication in the provision of our housing services.  Currently Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) and Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transsexual (LBGT) are under-represented.

How?

The community will be able to communicate their concern to a facilitator who will have a good understanding of the communities’ needs and cultural expectations.  The facilitators will then be able to translate these concerns to Ascham Homes in a strategic way to improve service delivery.

Who will benefit?

Both the Community Facilitators (who all come from Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) communities) and the communities themselves will benefit. The Community Facilitators will have the knowledge and support to facilitate forums and work with communities to develop projects.  Over time the aim is to strengthen the community’s involvement in Ascham Homes’ activities and help influence policies.

Community Facilitators Aims & Objectives

Community Facilitators are requested to engage in our service reviews, consultation forums, tenants’ and residents’ associations, business planning and be able to advise on service improvements.

In return, this will empower the Community Facilitators to develop projects within the community and provide a voice to influence Ascham Homes’ service delivery.
