Transferring your tenancy
This is known as an ‘assignment’ of tenancy and can only take place in limited circumstances, including when:
- a court orders that the tenancy must transfer from one partner, husband or wife to another
- a mutual exchange of properties takes place
- a tenancy is transferred to a person who would be qualified to succeed if the tenant were to die
