Disturbance payment
If we need you to give up your home
for a short time, so that we can carry out repairs, and so on, you may
be entitled to compensation called a disturbance payment. If your home
is included in a redevelopment or demolition programme, we will give
you full details of the payment. A disturbance payment is a limited
amount of money that is provided to help you with:
- the cost of removing furniture and belongings to the new address
- fees for disconnecting and reconnecting a cooker
- connection charges for transferring the existing phone, gas and electricity services
We
will ask you to provide an itemised list of expenses and official
receipts to help us work out the correct payment to be made. We may
also pay an allowance to help with other expenses to do with your new
home, such as reconnecting electricity and gas supplies.
