The right to repair scheme
We run the right to repair scheme.
Under this scheme, we will carry out certain urgent repairs costing up
to £250 within set time limits. If we fail to complete repairs within
these limits, we will pay you compensation. Below you can find examples
of repairs that qualify.
Steps to take
If
you think a repair qualifies under the right to repair scheme, contact
Ascham Direct with the details. We may need to inspect your home before
we can decide whether it is a qualifying repair. We will process
repairs that do not qualify in the normal way. The following
procedure applies to qualifying repairs:
- we will ask our contractor to complete the work within a set time
- we will send you a card giving details of the set time limit
- if the job is not completed within this time limit, ask us to place the work with a second contractor (when we have done this, we will send you a repair notice telling you when the job should now be completed)
- if the second contractor fails to complete the work on time you will be entitled to compensation (we will work out the compensation from the end of the second contractor’s set time limit)
- the amount of compensation which can be paid is £10, plus an extra £2 a day, up to £50, which can either be paid to you or credited to your rent account if you owe us rent
