Evidence needed to claim Housing Benefit

You need to give the London Borough of Waltham Forest all supporting documents within 28 days of the date you make your claim. It is essential that you do this. If you do not, they will have to close your claim and this will result in you not receiving Housing Benefit. Please see the claim form for a list of documents that you can provide to support your claim.

If you can’t provide these documents immediately, fill in the claim form and send it to the London Borough of Waltham Forest as soon as possible. However, you will need to make sure that they receive the missing documents within 28 days of the date you make your claim.

You must provide original documents – they will not accept photocopies. As soon as the Revenues and Benefits Service receives the original documents, they will photocopy them and return them to you straight away. If you prefer, you can take the form and documents to either of the two addresses above, where a customer services officer will photocopy the relevant information for you.

If you have any questions or problems with providing this extra information, please contact the Revenues and Benefits Service on 020 8496 3000.
