Shared ownership

Conventional Shared Ownership
This term is used to describe homes built for sale by housing associations in Waltham Forest to buy. You can buy a share of a property – usually 50% and pay a subsidised rent on the rest. You can then buy further shares until you own all of the property.

Homebuy
This scheme is aimed at council and housing association tenants who cannot afford to buy a home outright. If you find a home on the open market, you may raise a mortgage for 75 per cent of the purchase price and the housing association will give you a 25 per cent equity loan, which is repayable from the value of the property when it’s sold.
