Sylvia Sheppard
have lived in London for most of my life, having spent the
past 22 years living in Chingford. Since I have lived in
Council accommodation all my life, I understand the needs of a
tenant and expectations of a Management company. I am aware
that this is a reciprocal relationship and any Management company
should also have expectations of tenants.
Professionally, I am a Consultant Business
Psychologist but for the past 14 years, have worked as a London
University as a Senior Lecturer, lecturing at both Undergraduate
and Post-Graduate levels. Areas of interest include Business
Psychology, Performance Coaching and Stress Management. I
have worked for major companies including Railtrack, London
Underground and Reuters, as well as securing TV contracts.
My current role involves supervising research
which involves good communication and people management
skills. Listening to my ‘customers’ is also important, as
well as understanding the constraints that any Management company
has in providing its services. In these times of change I
will be able to make a substantial contribution to the Board by
ensuring that staff are fully equipped to deal with the ‘New and
More Effective Company’, resulting in better services for its
customers.
I cannot boast to have experience as a Board
Member in a Management company, but I am a quick learner!
With the support of others, which is an essential component of team
working, I am certain that I have many skills to offer.
