Football & cricket success!
Aldriche Way TRA
was set up to promote the interests of the residents on the estate
and have achieved a lot over the years, especially in the area of
youth engagement.
They have, with the help of Ascham Homes been
able to create a park and play area in Long Leys which provides
residents who live on the estate with somewhere to go and relax in
the park with their children in the finer weather.
Along with this,
the refurbishment of the under 7’s play area and the marking out of
the play area in Lena Kennedy Close have been triumphant. They have
also organised sports activities in the community, art classes for
children, social trips for residents, fun days and GCSE study
classes.
More recently, Aldriche Way TRA, supported by
Ascham Homes, held a youth football & cricket tournament, led
by Chair Naseem Saleemi. A cricket 6-a-side cricket competition
which four teams entered and a 6-a-side football competition which
4 teams entered.
Jo Murphy; Deputy
Chief Executive at Ascham Homes provided and presented medals and
trophies to the winning teams and runners up on the day. A great
day was had by all and the photographs paint a great story of how
community cohesion and youth involvement is being achieved on one
of our priority estates.
