Homes help Priory Court revamp derelict land into an
Under 5s play area
Ascham Homes have helped Priory Court
Residents Association revamp what was a disused and derelict area
of land into a brand new Under 5s play area.
The under 5s play area, located on Sherwood
Close, Priory Court, was much needed community resource. The
project was designed to enable parents and young children to
interact with other residents, enjoy the experience of sharing play
facilities, the opportunity to play out and lead a healthy
life.
Priory Court Residents Association has been
running since the 1940‘s. The Residents’ Association decided that
they would like the land to be transformed to a play area for under
5s, for all residents to use.
Ascham Homes assisted with their application
to the Community Council. The Community Council awarded a grantor
bid £5,820 and an additional amount £5,000 at the end of last year.
Grass roots funding has also awarded an additional £5,000 to
complete the works.
The play area was officially opened on Friday,
25 February 2011, Councillor Geraldine Reardon, Councillor Nadeem
Ali, Elaine Gosling (Head of Operations, Ascham Homes), Ascham
Homes staff and representatives from other landlords were
present.
A 90-year old resident, who has been a
resident of Priory Court for 40 years, officially opened the play
area by cutting the ribbon and all celebrated with food and drinks.
Gill Jacobs, Chair of Priory Court TRA said ‘we are happy that the
play area has been completed. We will be applying for more funding
for additional equipment and plants for the area. A heartfelt thank
you to Ascham Homes as without their support, we wouldn’t have the
play area’.
