Connecting with the Community
On Thursday 21 July
2011, Ascham Homes held a brand new outreach initiative entitled
‘Ascham Connects’.
Staff from Ascham Homes, including board
members and resident representatives undertook a door knocking
exercise across Waltham Forest, Billericay, Epping and Wickford, to
meet with residents whose homes are managed by Ascham Homes.
We also specifically targeted those residents
who haven’t contacted us in over 2 years, to overcome any
challenges by bringing our services to their front door.
During the visits residents were informed
about the services that we provide, including improvements and
developments in their area.
Staff told residents
about some of the new initiatives at Ascham Homes such as:
- This year we have introduced a scheme to
decorate a room for elderly or disabled residents. Our target was
to paint one room in 100 residents’ homes and due to good
management and negotiations with our contractor we will be able to
deliver this to 200 properties, exceeding our target by 100%.
- Increasing the external decorations
programme, painting the outside of 1000 homes this year and making
a real difference to the environment and homes.
Residents were invited to feed back their
suggestions for our services for the future and their views on our
current performance.
Chief Executive,
Madeleine Forster who took part on the day said:
“I really enjoyed meeting so many residents.
We had lots of positive feedback about our services and plenty of
good ideas as to what we could do better. We will be using this
information to improve what we do and how we do it over the coming
months.”
